AS in Respiratory Therapy preferred
BS in Respiratory Care desirable
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
strong patient assessment skills
strong communication and interaction skills
Current RCP license issued by the state of California required
CRTT, RRT or advanced credential preferred
ACLS, BLS, NRP* and PALS are required

Five (5) years minimum acute care experience, with 1 year of critical care experience
Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Care, Health Sciences or Credentialed in one of the following by the National Board of Respiratory Care Advanced Critical Care Specialty, Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist, Certified/Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner with the State of California
BLS, ACLS, PALS based on facility requirements

Job Responsibility

Administers the full range of respiratory care modalities in all patient care areas
Initiates and terminates mechanical ventilation per Cardiac surgery protocol or physician orders
Operates and maintains blood gas analyzer
Provides quality respiratory care services including routine and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures designed to evaluate, stabilize, prevent or remedy neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric pulmonary abnormalities
Utilizes a multi-disciplinary plan of care, including respiratory care protocols, assesses indications, initiates appropriate therapeutic interventions and evaluates anticipated outcomes
Acts as a clinical resource person to department and hospital patient care team
Provides education to patients and their families
Willingness to work where needed in NICU, L&D, ED and ICU
Competently provide essential respiratory care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
Perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, mechanical ventilator operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration

Job Responsibility

Conducting thorough respiratory assessments of neonates in the NICU to determine their individual needs
Developing and implementing comprehensive respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals
Administering a wide range of respiratory therapies, including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and airway management
Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress
Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment to ensure optimal performance
Obtaining and verifying physician orders for respiratory care, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Organizing and prioritizing daily workload, communicating effectively with the shift charge therapist, and other team members
Staying current on best practices in neonatal respiratory care through continuing education and professional development
Adhering to all department and Medical Center policies, procedures, and Respiratory Care Standards of Practice
