Job Description:

The role is part of the MINDnet doctoral network dedicated to training researchers in neuromorphic computing, with the opportunity to pursue a PhD degree. In collaboration with an international team, this position involves hardware-software co-design of emerging non von-Neumann computing devices.

Job Responsibility:

Pursue a PhD degree in hardware-software co-design of analog neuromorphic accelerators
collaborate with an international multi-disciplinary team of machine learning experts, experimentalists, fabrication experts, software developers, and computer scientists.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent
deeply interested and enthusiastic to perform research in optical and neuromorphic computing
excellent academic record
team player, self-motivated and independent worker
strong English writing and verbal communication skills
researchers are not eligible if they already have a PhD or have successfully defended their doctoral thesis
candidates cannot have resided or carried out their main activity in Belgium for more than 12 months within three years prior to employment start date.

Nice to have:

Proficiency in Python
expertise in frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
broad knowledge of modern machine learning techniques
excellent analytical, numerical, and modeling skills
familiarity with optical, analog electronic in-memory, and neuromorphic computing
prior expertise in hardware-software co-design.
