Part-Time (0.6FTE) | 12-Month Contract | Identified Position. At the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are dedicated to delivering innovative, high‑impact health and medical research that improves the lives of communities across Australia. This role is part of the ICARE Research Program within the Coolamon Team, supporting key research activities across the Aboriginal Families and Communities Health Research Alliance (ACRA). The program plays an important role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families during pregnancy and early parenthood. You will be based at SAHMRI Women and Kids and work across several antenatal care sites, including (but not limited to) the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital and/or Flinders Medical Centre.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting research activities within the ICARE Program and ACRA priority projects
Coordinating participant consent processes and follow‑up
Referring and supporting participants to access care packages
Assisting with workshops, consultations and data collection
Liaising effectively with hospital staff, clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders
Completing accurate data collection and meeting project milestones
Participating in Aboriginal cultural and team activities
Requirements:
Extensive experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health or health research, ideally in maternal and child health
Experience working on Aboriginal research projects
Strong skills in data collection, documentation, and digital research tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ability to manage competing priorities, use initiative and work both independently and collaboratively
A positive, proactive, “can do” attitude
Must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
DCSI Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
Ability to work across multiple hospital and community sites
Access to a car and a current driver’s licence
SAHMRI is required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy for SAHMRI employees carrying out work in any SA Health Facility. Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A
