We're looking for a Relief Cook / Chef with a genuine passion for cooking, a positive, flexible attitude, and someone who enjoys working with older people. You'll have the chance to inspire and support the next generation of cooks while preparing delicious, nutritious meals that make a real difference to residents' daily lives. This is a relief post, helping us provide full kitchen cover seven days a week and ensuring residents consistently enjoy high-quality meals. Relief cooks are vital to keeping our catering service running smoothly and supporting both residents and colleagues. There's also the option to work at other Extra Care schemes across North Wales, giving you variety and flexibility.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menus and residents' preferences
Assist in meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and stored correctly
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, following all food safety regulations
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth service during busy periods
Monitor food stock levels and report any shortages
Follow recipes accurately while contributing creative ideas for new dishes or menus
Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and cleaned regularly
Requirements:
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
Catering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery) or significant experience in a similar role
Knowledge of food safety legislation and Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) practices
Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
