This 32 bed telemetry monitored unit houses PCU level of care with some medical/telemetry overflow as well. This is our primary stroke unit that also manages respiratory and cardiac patients. This unit is staffed at a 1:3-4 patient ratio consistent with national standards of care. The new St. Michael’s progressive care unit has the latest in equipment. Many of our rooms have ceiling lifts. Our teams are supported by respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy on the units, rapid response team, case management on the units, and a team of engaged physicians.
Job Responsibility:
Provides continuous cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia recognition and intervention
Initiates and titrates multiple, complex cardiac related infusions at higher doses
Manages high flow & bipap patients
Manages patients with acute neurological/neurosurgical events
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
BSN preferred
One year of related work experience in an acute care setting preferred
Previous PCU/ICU experience preferred or 1-2 years med/surg experience required or New graduate with completion of senior practicum in a specialty area i.e.: Critical Care, ED, PACU
For those with no PCU/ICU experience, must successfully complete the PCU residency or the critical care residency program
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or attainment within six months of hire
