The Regional Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, performance, and optimization of vessels and related floating equipment in the Middle East Region. The role ensures that all assets are managed cost-effectively, safely, and in full compliance with international regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, implement, and oversee multi-annual vessel budgets covering maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, overhauls, insurance, and fuel/lubricant costs to ensure effective fleet management
Supervise and ensure the proper planning and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance, dry-dockings, modifications, and technical projects within budget and in accordance with company standards
Monitor and guide the application of effective project management techniques, ensuring high-quality reporting and compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
Ensure that all vessels are maintained in a safe and fit-for-purpose condition to achieve optimal utilization and operational reliability
Promote and enforce safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards, reviewing incidents and ensuring that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented
Provide direction, support, and technical guidance to Contract and Operations Managers to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient vessel operations
Conduct or oversee regular vessel inspections to monitor condition, compliance, and performance against company standards
Engage with clients and charter representatives to maintain strong working relationships, ensure operational compliance, and identify business development opportunities
Provide technical and operational input during tendering processes to support the commercial team in securing new business
Lead, coach, and develop the regional technical team, ensuring high performance, professional growth, and adherence to company policies and procedures
Ensure that accurate vessel documentation, technical records, and reports are maintained in line with company procedures and requirements.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture (Maritime Officer HWTK preferred)
Minimum 8 years of technical management experience in an international maritime environment
Experience in working the MEIS region
Preferably seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or First Engineer
Strong knowledge of vessel engineering, maintenance systems, and onboard practices
Proven leadership and management skills with experience in defining and maintaining technical standards and procedures
Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required
Must be willing to live in U.A.E.
