The primary objective of the Quality Control Inspector position is to perform testing and recording to ensure quality standards are maintained in raw and finished product. Interfaces with appropriate plant employees to provide process and quality control information.
Job Responsibility:
Comply with all safety and plant requirements individually and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance training, TPM, 5’s and housekeeping programs as established within the plant
Perform quality and mechanical testing for finish goods
Perform first article inspections on startups, breaks, and product changes
Communicate lab results for process changes and improvements and online changes. @ Scrub data, weight info, test runs, process upsets, etc.
Keep logs of tests as well as build a data base, learn how, why and when to interpret and apply the data as it applies to the manufacturing process
Test raw materials periodically to ensure specifications are in compliance – filler, sand, granules
Perform layered process audits to help analyze process upsets
Basic understanding of the process equipment used in this facility
Be responsible for visually checking and keeping lab equipment in the correct working condition. Keep production quality equipment area clean. Monitor inventory of lab materials
Collect and prepare routine and ADHOC samples for shipment, (Bundles, Asphalt, filler, sand, etc.)
Perform verification checks on lab equipment
Perform re-evaluation as needed on in accurate data
Update and maintain quality hold log
Train other employees in lab tasks, and other lab activities as directed by Quality and Tech Leader
Update and maintain statistical process control charts for lab testing
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Three (3) or more years of manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Understand verbal and written instructions
Perform basic mathematical calculations
Operate necessary software to successfully perform job responsibilities
Log into and navigate Talent Center and accomplish required online training routinely
Think under pressure and make quick decisions to identify solutions
Work well in a team environment
Strong attention to detail
Must have ability to read and understand imperial measurement
Ability to read and understand Technical manual and specification sheets
Wear required PPE equipment (safety glasses, bump cap, steel toe boots, ear protection, heat/cut resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, and face mask)
Able to shovel wet sand
Climb and descend stairs
Lift, push, and pull 50lbs repetitively
Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument to successfully perform job responsibilities
Log into and navigate Owens Corning University (OCU) and accomplish required online training routinely
Basic knowledge of Microsoft outlook, excels, and word.
Ability to learn the lab software
Ability to learn the environmental software
Complete all annual safety and role specific training, as required by the nature of this position
