Requirements

University degree or college diploma specializing in Accounting
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
CPA, CA designation obtained or nearing completion (preferred)
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations is advantageous
Experience with TaxPrep is a strong asset
Strong planning, organization, and engagement control skills

Job Responsibility

Lead and execute specialized partnerships, corporate income, and individual tax returns
Plan and execute fieldwork assignments, including managing budget and resource needs
Establish and maintain effective client relationships
Supervise and mentor junior staff
Prepare corporate tax returns
Participate in income tax and indirect tax planning and consulting
Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business in order to serve as a trusted business advisor
Anticipate technical issues to avoid crises and where required, develop sound solutions
Involve appropriate firm personnel to ensure all aspects associated with the work have been properly addressed
Demonstrate technical competence in practice discipline, serve as a technical resource for staff, and provide suggestions for resolving technical issues

Bachelor’s Degree required, in Accounting or business related field
Advanced degree, CPA or other professional designation preferred
2+ years of experience in the tax field, with experience preparing federal consolidated returns and multi-state corporate tax returns and income tax provisions
Public accounting experience is preferred
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Job Responsibility

Prepare and manage federal income tax filings for the company’s consolidated group
Complete state and local income and franchise tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
Calculate and prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax liabilities
File annual federal and state tax return extension requests
Support quarterly and year-end tax provisions, including ASC 740 computations
Assist with monthly and quarterly tax account close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Address notices and inquiries from federal and state revenue agencies
Maintain and update the corporate tax calendar and return log to ensure timely compliance
Conduct tax research and planning related to federal and state income taxes
Document and test internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
