The Project Manager, Maintenance will be responsible for overseeing capital maintenance and upgrade projects throughout Western Canada Business Unit. This role involves planning, directing, and executing maintenance projects to ensure infrastructure reliability and alignment with corporate objectives. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison with facility teams, contractors, and the company’s internal departments, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The role requires strong project management, budget planning, and scheduling skills, and the ability to manage complex projects.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, manage, and direct project plans, budgets, and schedules for various upgrade, maintenance, and stay-in-business projects
Establish clear project scopes, timelines, and budgets to ensure all aspects align with organizational goals
Lead pre-construction activities, including risk assessments, permitting, and contracting, to streamline the project lifecycle
Prepare and monitor Authorization for Expenditures (AFE) for project approvals and budget alignment
Oversee the execution of maintenance and construction projects from initial development through project close, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
Conduct site inspections and pre-construction assessments, complete detailed punch lists, and perform closing assessments to confirm project completion and quality
Oversee contractors and vendors, guiding them through every project phase and ensuring alignment with contract terms, deliverables, and quality control
Develop and control project budgets to prevent cost overruns
provide regular financial updates to stakeholders
Track and manage expenditures on individual projects to meet periodic reporting requirements
Identify and implement cost-saving measures, balancing project efficiency with quality standards
Serve as a liaison between facility teams, contractors, engineers, architects, and other internal and external stakeholders
Facilitate regular communication with operations teams and other departments to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with business needs
Provide timely reports on project progress, adjustments, and financial status
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and company health, safety, and environmental policies
Conduct risk assessments and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
Implement quality assurance measures to ensure workmanship meets required specifications and project documentation
Identify areas for operational improvement in maintenance practices, recommending strategies for reducing downtime and optimizing equipment performance
Generate progress reports on project timelines, financial performance, and resource utilization

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of project management experience, ideally within a retail or facilities maintenance environment
Experience with budget management, tendering processes, and contract negotiations
Demonstrated leadership ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and contractors on large-scale projects
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools
Valid Canadian driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed (up to 40-50%)
Ability to work under pressure, meeting multiple project deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and customer service
Ability to sit at a desk or in a vehicle for long periods at a time
