Job Description:

This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for the design, scale-up, and commercialisation of nutritional premixes and sports nutrition products. You will lead the Product Formulation function, owning the end-to-end formulation process from customer brief through to launch, while ensuring regulatory, quality, safety, and commercial requirements are met. The role combines hands-on formulation expertise with people leadership, customer interaction, and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and develop the Product Formulation team, building capability and high performance
  • Own formulation strategy, resource planning, and departmental budget
  • Oversee development of nutritional premixes and sports nutrition products across powder, RTM and RTD formats
  • Ensure formulations are science-based, stable, compliant, cost-effective, and fit for purpose
  • Approve specifications and support pilot trials and shelf-life validation
  • Partner with commercial teams to scope customer briefs and deliver right-first-time formulations
  • Provide technical input to customer compliance, raw material approval, and dual-sourcing initiatives
  • Act as a subject matter expert supporting internal stakeholders across quality, production, and customer service
  • Drive improvements in systems, documentation, KPIs, and ways of working

Requirements:

  • Degree (BSc/MSc) in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or Chemical/Process Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in food or nutrition manufacturing, with at least 3 years in people leadership
  • Hands-on experience formulating premixes (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, botanicals, probiotics)
  • Strong knowledge of sports nutrition categories (proteins, creatine, BCAA/EAA, electrolytes, pre-workouts)
  • Expertise in powder processing and formulation challenges (flowability, segregation, hygroscopicity, encapsulation)
  • Proven ability to design science-led formulations with good sensory understanding
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
