Your role is critical in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the project's assets. It is your responsibility to ensure that the design of all project facilities prioritizes safety and minimizes risks to staff, contractors, and the surrounding community. This involves working closely with the project's engineering contractors and equipment vendors to review and validate the safety aspects of the design. You will define safety standards for the project, taking into account applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices. These standards will serve as guidelines for all project stakeholders, including the engineering team, contractors, and vendors.
Job Responsibility:
Design Safety: Make sure all facility designs are safe and reduce risks for staff, contractors, and the community. Work with engineering teams and equipment suppliers to review and confirm safety measures
Safety Standards: Set clear safety standards based on regulations and best practices. Share these standards with all project teams to ensure consistency and compliance
Regulatory Requirements: Work with regulators and specialists to identify all relevant safety requirements. Keep the team informed about updates and explain how they apply to the project
Stakeholder Communication: Keep everyone — engineers, contractors, vendors, and regulators — informed about safety expectations. Create clear ways to share information and resolve any issues
Compliance Checks: Set up systems to track and verify compliance with safety standards. Assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and report to the Central Engineering Manager throughout the project
Requirements:
Engineering degree, MSc, in a relevant discipline
At least ten years experience in large scale industrial projects (50 MUSD+) and/or site experience (steel mill, mining, paper mill, utilities generation, Oil & Gas, petrochemicals, refinery etc.), with a minimum of four years in technical safety related role
Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, Risk Assessments, Occupational safety, Hazards and Effects management
Knowledge of relevant Swedish /European / EU / International standards, Laws & Regulations related to all Technical Process Safety and Industrial Safety requirements is mandatory
Knowledge of relevant permitting system , consent to operate for the major industrial project plants is mandatory
Nice to have:
Experience with Hydrogen system / LNG is a big plus
