The Process Engineer focuses on designing, developing, and implementing new or revised production processes for the efficient/economical mass production of goods. This role will work to achieve Operations goals by using Lean Six Sigma or similar structured analyses, process & materials knowledge, and project management skills. Focus will be primarily in Films and Lamination. The CI Manager fulfills the responsibilities of this role when vacant.
Job Responsibility:
Provide advanced analytical skills, technical project management and process support for all operations within the Northlake site, and throughout the Packaging Division as required
Utilize technical knowledge to resolve manufacturing problems, with an emphasis in Blown Film and Laminated Products
Primary focus will be in the Films and Lamination departments
Investigate Customer Quality issues and implement root cause resolutions
Initiate collaboration with operations, maintenance and technical support personnel for day-to-day operations, on problems, and on process improvement initiatives
Manage projects directly and provide leadership to others on a resource basis as required
Apply Lean Six Sigma methods to data collection, analysis, problem-solving and risk management
Lead and participate in new product development activities and in the introduction of new processes and technologies
Actively participate in capital planning and project implementation
Develop strong, positive communication links with all departments including Production, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Human Resources, Maintenance, Finance, and I/S, as well as Customers
Provide support to other Scholle IPN sites as requested
Provide timely and accurate reporting on projects and activities as required
Responsible for organizing and leading kaizen events using lean methodology
Actively participate in meetings and planning activities with production departments as requested
Actively seek new methods, equipment, and processes to reduce scrap, improve overall equipment efficiency, and improve safety without adversely affecting product cost and quality
Team Leadership/Development responsibilities by providing training as required to other technical, production and maintenance personnel
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering
Preferred area of study in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical
Three (3) to five (5) years related experience preferred
Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from a US qualified institution preferred
Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel
Experience with plastic extrusion (Blown Film) and/or lamination
The ability to excel in a fast paced, high-energy environment with constant interface with people
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
Ability to communicate effectively
