Morson Edge is currently recruiting for a Principal Town Planner to join an established planning-led consultancy based in Gloucestershire. With a diverse project pipeline covering residential, strategic land, and renewable energy schemes, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of projects, work independently, and contribute to the growth of a high-performing team. You’ll be working alongside a small, experienced team, managing projects from inception through to completion, and helping to mentor junior staff while supporting client management and business development.
Job Responsibility:
Managing a varied portfolio of planning projects, including residential, strategic, and renewable schemes, from inception through to delivery
Taking responsibility for client relationships and managing consultants where required
Preparing planning applications, statements, reports, and supporting technical documents
Participating in public consultations and representing projects to stakeholders
Mentoring and developing junior team members, supporting their technical growth
Contributing to business development, promoting services, and supporting the team’s growth
Requirements:
MRTPI (or working towards) with strong private-sector experience, ideally from a consultancy environment
Proven experience managing development control projects and residential schemes
Direct client management experience and the ability to take projects from inception to delivery
Confident and independent, with the ability to take a strategic view while delivering practical outcomes
Collaborative mindset with a focus on practical delivery rather than excessive detail
Experience in renewable energy projects and/or minerals planning advantageous but not essential
Nice to have:
