At Atlassian, we are on a mission to unleash the potential of every team. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Developer Solutions Consultant. In this role, you will be a key player in designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI solutions using Atlassian's Forge platform and Rovo, a key component of Atlassian's Central AI initiative. You will act as a consultant, guiding our key customers and internal teams on the solution development and design of AI agents, designed to enhance team workflows by automating repetitive tasks and providing intelligent insights to their organization and key stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the solution design and architecture of complex AI solutions using the Forge platform
  • define the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • develop and deploy sophisticated Rovo agents tailored to specific client needs
  • act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, providing expert guidance on AI integration, best practices, and innovative solutions
  • customize and extend Rovo agents to perform specialized tasks, integrate with third-party APIs, and utilize advanced Forge features
  • oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, and deployment
  • work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to ensure successful project delivery
  • mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and Forge development, and proactively explore new opportunities to enhance solutions
  • spend up to 30% of time traveling domestically and internationally for both internal and customer-facing events.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in developing applications using Atlassian Forge or similar platforms
  • proven track record of delivering complex AI solutions
  • deep understanding of AI concepts, including natural language processing, machine learning, data analytics, and prompt engineering to garner consistent results from AI solutions
  • proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
  • strong experience with API integration and cloud services
  • exceptional problem-solving skills and willingness to solve ambiguous and complex problems, as well as the ability to navigate through uncertain situations, break down complex challenges into manageable components, and develop innovative solutions for our customers
  • familiarity with piloting approaches to make fast progress and ultimately designing for scale across a global field organization
  • oriented for testing approaches directly with customers with a keen appreciation for customer problems
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in project management and team mentorship.

Nice to have:

  • In-depth knowledge of Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence, and JSM
  • experience with guiding developer teams and engineering leadership on how to build on and customize the Atlassian platform
  • expertise in Forge modules such as ai:agent and ai:action
  • strong understanding of ethical considerations in AI development and deployment
  • previous experience in a consulting role, with a proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver tailored solutions
  • ability to communicate and explain data science concepts to diverse audiences
  • background in SaaS-based architectures, integration methods, and security considerations
  • expertise in Python or Java with the ability to write performant production-quality code
  • familiarity with SQL
  • knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
  • identifying customer business challenges and providing insights that help decision-makers discover opportunities and the value of addressing them with Atlassian’s Cloud solutions to achieve better long-term results.
