As a PR Leader you are part of our Communication function, and our purpose is to position IKEA as a meaningful and trusted brand. In this role you will be the country lead for Public Relations, responsible for our press office and for positioning the IKEA brand in Switzerland. This is an 80% maternity cover position to be filled from 1 August 2025 until 31 March 2026, with the potential for a fixed-term continuation to be evaluated toward the end of the contract.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement positioning strategies by creating and executing comprehensive communication strategies at the country level, focusing on both earned and owned media
Promote and protect the IKEA brand by developing and maintaining strong relationships with media and influencers to enhance and safeguard the brand's reputation
Engage in impactful communication by managing proactive and reactive communication efforts through media and strategic influencers to address both opportunities and challenges
Strengthen communication preparedness for crises by developing and implementing plans to handle reputational issues and crises, ensuring the organization is prepared to respond effectively
Identify and support IKEA leaders by training and supporting them to be effective and inspiring communicators
Act as a media spokesperson, when appropriate
Increase brand awareness by utilizing targeted media strategies and co-leading events to elevate brand awareness and engage the public effectively
Lead & develop a team with two direct reports
Requirements:
Proven track record in the leadership of communication teams and communication agencies
Passion for home furnishing and retail trends and implementing them in communication strategies
Many years of professional experience (at least 10+ years) in PR in the agency environment or at corporate side
Deep knowledge in media relations – product and brand communication and brand positioning, with a proven track record of managing media relationships effectively
Familiarity with the Swiss media landscape and up-to-date knowledge of traditional and social media platforms, their usage, and methods for measuring their impact
Ability to compile the results of press work into concise, impactful reports for C-level stakeholders
Skilled in stakeholder management and create engaging communication while effectively managing relationships with media and other stakeholders
Strong text and language skills in German OR French and English (written and spoken)
