PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. Power Generation (Project Engineering) is looking for a talented summer intern to work alongside PG&E Project Engineers.
Job Responsibility:
Work alongside PG&E Project Engineers
Provide engineering, project management, and technical support to O&M staff, for small to large capital and expense improvements to power generation and infrastructure facilities
Projects may include upgrades or replacement of turbine/generator, boiler, auxiliary equipment or improvements to civil water conveyance or infrastructure features
Gain knowledge of the larger Hydro organization through the work they will be performing
Requirements:
Earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
Students must be continuing their education with returning back to school in the Fall of 2026 full time
Must have a valid driver’s license prior to start date
Students must be in good academic standing
Be able to accommodate field location work fifty (50) percent of the time
Nice to have:
EIT or FE certification
Academic school projects related to Utility or Energy Hydroelectric listed on resume
Prior PG&E internship
3.0 GPA or greater
Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
Strong problem solving and analytical skills, communication skills, both oral and written
Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
