APS6 Policy Officer – Digital Systems & Strategic Reform. Are you a policy professional who enjoys the intersection of digital innovation and complex system reform? We are seeking a proactive APS6 Policy Officer to join a dynamic team dedicated to improving how Australians navigate essential national services. In this role, you will help bridge the gap between policy intent and digital delivery, ensuring that national tools and platforms are effective, user-friendly, and strategically aligned with government priorities. Working within a fast-paced Section, you will support the management and enhancement of key national digital platforms and decision-support tools. This role is at the heart of a major reform agenda aimed at reducing system fragmentation and improving outcomes for help-seekers across Australia. Your work will directly respond to high-level inquiries and sector-led recommendations, turning strategic reports into functional, integrated digital solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Policy Development: Contribute to the design and development of new digital policies and guidance materials
Procurement & Contract Management: Prepare and oversee procurement activities and grants in strict accordance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs)
Stakeholder Liaison: Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including service providers and industry experts
Project Delivery: Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT), data analysis, and the implementation of tool adaptations to ensure continuous improvement of digital assets
Requirements:
Australian Citizenship is required
Must hold a Baseline Security Clearance
Strong understanding of procurement, contract management, and the legislative frameworks that govern Commonwealth activity
Exceptional communication and writing skills for an Executive and Ministerial audience
Interpersonal skills to negotiate and influence
Proven experience working independently in a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
Ability to use research and sound judgement to solve problems and inform strategic decision-making
