As a Platform Integration Engineer you will provide project management, system engineering, and platform interface support to the office of the Product Manager (PdM) Vehicle Protection System (VPS) to assist in fielding vehicle survivability technologies to the Army.
Job Responsibility:
Conducts, monitors, directs, and coordinates research, design, engineer development, and engineering activities for PdM VPS, which are applied across vehicle system lines for fielded components, subsystems, and total systems
Conducts research and trade off analysis
executes market surveys
investigates technology transfer/insertion opportunities, requirements, and specification development
Performs contract and test monitoring, failure analysis, cost reduction analysis, production engineering, configuration management, and technical field support
Participates in the preparation of program plans, documentation, schedules, budgets, and milestones necessary for the overall planning and execution of the assigned program
Develops, reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning acquisition documents, priorities, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, milestones and other program matters bearing on project/program assignments
Provides input to the application and integration of improved designs into the system
Reviews and advises on preliminary design studies for new or improved items, components, structures, and major subsystems, as well as engineering changes affecting system characteristics
Assists in the preparation of test planning, observes tests, and analyzes test results to determine adequacy of system and subsystem performance, recommending corrective actions for deficiencies
Assures that system and sub-system components, structures, software, electronics, vulnerability/survivability elements are compatible with each other and the host platform
Ensures that necessary engineering trade-offs in the vehicle/system design are beneficial to overall system performance
Performs and evaluates engineering studies, such as operational and functional characteristics pertaining to assigned systems/ components
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of 8 years of experience
Working knowledge of integration activities required for DoD ground combat vehicles
Project management experience
Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision
Ability to daily provide high quality support and customer service to the Government customer in a high visibility position
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong interpersonal abilities, including ability to tactfully negotiate resolution to competing programmatic demands and requirements
A strong customer service mentality
Comfortable with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
Nice to have:
Electrical, computer, and/or systems engineering experience on DoD ground combat vehicles and/or DoD survivability systems
Experience working with DEVCOM GVSC, PEO GCS, DEVCOM C5ISR, and/or related PM offices within the Army Futures Command and/or Army Materiel Command
Understanding of the Army acquisition process
Experience with in-vehicle data networks
Experience with U.S. DoD communications equipment or communication equipment integration
System integration experience on DoD vehicles systems
