Relevant qualification
At least 2-3 years’ proven experience as a Drainer or Pipe Layer in civil construction or mining infrastructure projects
Sound knowledge of drainage installation methods and standards

Job Responsibility

Installing, repairing, and maintaining stormwater, sewerage, and drainage systems in accordance with project specifications and drawings
Setting up lasers and lines for excavator operators, checking levels in trenches, slinging and guiding pipes into their final position and assisting with backfill
Measuring, cutting, and joining pipes using appropriate materials and methods (PVC, concrete, or HDPE)
Backfilling, compacting, and restoring work areas after installations
Ensuring all drainage work complies with Australian Standards, local regulations, and site safety requirements
Operating small plant and equipment safely and efficiently
Assisting with other civil works such as pits, culverts, and trenching when required
Reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and job instructions accurately
Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition

Job Responsibility

Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging
Shovel earth/dirt to prepare ground trenches for pipes
May dig up existing ground pipes and other debris with manual tools as needed
Guide pipes into place while equipment operator maneuvers pipes attached with chains/guide wires
Attach trench box to chains/guide wires so it can be lowered or lifted by the equipment operator
Attach pipes to chains/guide wires
Cut pipe and connect pipe using misc. tools, lubricants, glue/grout
Build couplings, connectors, and mechanical joints using parts and tools
Set up and move laser level/tripod and pipe lasers
