Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to join our team in West LA. This contract position requires expertise in handling multi-state payroll operations for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The role is hybrid, with onsite presence required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. For the right candidate, this could lead to a full-time offer.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage a team of Payroll Associates, setting daily priorities and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
  • Oversee the accurate processing of semi-monthly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states
  • Review and approve journal entries related to payroll activities
  • Monitor and reconcile 401(k) transactions with the plan provider
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data, benefits, and wage verifications to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Respond to internal reporting requests and provide timely updates
  • Coordinate with external vendors by submitting and managing service tickets
  • Support payroll managers in preparing for upcoming projects and organizational changes
  • Ensure adherence to payroll policies and practices while maintaining confidentiality
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs

Requirements:

  • Proficient in Workday Payroll and Time Tracking systems
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll processes and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles, including benefits and wage audits
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Background in accounting or related financial expertise
