A healthcare organization in the Twin Cities metro is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join its finance team. This position supports the accurate processing of multi-cycle payrolls for a dynamic group of employees including salaried, hourly, and specialty pay groups. Job Responsibility:
Ensure timely and precise payroll processing for multiple pay groups (bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and customized cycles)
Maintain accurate employee records and updates within the HRIS system
Perform wage calculations and apply adjustments (bonuses, deductions, garnishments, overtime, true-ups, and disability pay)
Validate and reconcile payroll entries against source data to ensure compliance and accuracy
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, and serve as the go-to for payroll-related inquiries from staff and leadership
Monitor employee status changes including onboarding and terminations to determine appropriate compensation
Assist in quarterly and annual tax reporting (941s, W-2s, W-4s)
Stay informed of federal and state payroll regulations and compliance requirements
Support audits and provide internal reports to finance and leadership
Collaborate with team members to ensure cross-training and coverage of all payroll functions
Requirements:
4+ years of relevant payroll experience (healthcare or multi-entity organizations a plus)
Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, garnishments, and benefit deductions
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and data entry skills
Experience handling payroll for employees in multiple states
Proficiency with payroll/timekeeping systems
experience with ADP or UKG a plus
Comfort navigating Excel and using it to support efficiency
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have:
Experience with ADP or UKG
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
