The Payroll Administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll processing within an Operating Unit. This role involves handling the calculation, distribution, and recording of employee compensation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Payroll Processing: Collecting and verifying timekeeping information
Calculating wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
Processing payroll transactions accurately and timely
Tax Compliance: Withholding and remitting payroll taxes
Ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations
Recordkeeping and Reporting: Maintaining accurate payroll records
Generating and distributing pay stubs, W-2 forms
Payroll Audits and Reconciliations: Conducting regular audits
Reconciling payroll accounts and resolving discrepancies
Communication and Support: Serving as a point of contact for employees
Providing assistance on payroll matters
Compliance and Policy Adherence: Staying informed about changes in payroll laws
Ensuring practices adhere to company policies and labor laws
Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement
Collaborating with HR and finance teams
Payroll Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in preparing payroll budgets
Providing financial analysis related to payroll expenses
Requirements:
Proven experience working on payroll in California with knowledge of payroll related state law including overtime, meal break requirements, etc.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Power BI skills preferred
Prevailing wage and certified payroll experience preferred
Multi-state payroll processing preferred
Bilingual (Spanish) would be a nice-to-have
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience) if preferred or relevant experience
3-5 years of related job experience
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred
