Job Responsibility:
Under general supervision, the Salty Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of packaging machinery
This includes maintaining product flow to packaging lines, making minor machine adjustments, troubleshooting, performing maintenance, and keeping accurate records.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required
One year of production experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required
Ability to maintain shift documentation, including metal detector and batch order verifications
Ability to read and interpret production schedules using MicroStrategy
Ability to print labels using various printers and programs
clean and adjust printers as needed
Ability to perform nitrogen testing
Ability to monitor packaging machinery for correct codes, dates, and prices
Ability to ensure adequate supply of roll stock and packaging materials
Ability to set up and write new programs for bag makers
Ability to edit machine micro logic
Ability to create and modify code dates
Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
Ability to calibrate and adjust scales and linkages

Ability to operate packaging equipment including case sealers and robot cells
Ability to plan and execute efficient machine changeovers
Ability to monitor and adjust machines for proper film cut-off and seal quality
Ability to ensure machines run at standard speeds
Ability to monitor product appearance and adhere to weight control standards
Ability to perform bag weight checks every 20 minutes and inspect for quality issues
Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as baggers, scales, conveyors, seal checkers, and case packers
Ability to identify and resolve packaged product quality issues
Ability to sort and rework good product from run-off
Ability to clean machines and work areas regularly
Ability to report maintenance issues promptly
Ability to follow safety and hygiene procedures
Ability to store supplies in designated areas
Ability to keep aisles and exits clear
