Packaging Machine Operator

• Under general supervision, the Salty Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of packaging machinery
• This includes maintaining product flow to packaging lines, making minor machine adjustments, troubleshooting, performing maintenance, and keeping accurate records.

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required
• One year of production experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required
• Ability to maintain shift documentation, including metal detector and batch order verifications
• Ability to read and interpret production schedules using MicroStrategy
• Ability to print labels using various printers and programs
• clean and adjust printers as needed
• Ability to perform nitrogen testing
• Ability to monitor packaging machinery for correct codes, dates, and prices
• Ability to ensure adequate supply of roll stock and packaging materials
• Ability to set up and write new programs for bag makers
• Ability to edit machine micro logic
• Ability to create and modify code dates
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Ability to calibrate and adjust scales and linkages

• Ability to operate packaging equipment including case sealers and robot cells
• Ability to plan and execute efficient machine changeovers
• Ability to monitor and adjust machines for proper film cut-off and seal quality
• Ability to ensure machines run at standard speeds
• Ability to monitor product appearance and adhere to weight control standards
• Ability to perform bag weight checks every 20 minutes and inspect for quality issues
• Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as baggers, scales, conveyors, seal checkers, and case packers
• Ability to identify and resolve packaged product quality issues
• Ability to sort and rework good product from run-off
• Ability to clean machines and work areas regularly
• Ability to report maintenance issues promptly
• Ability to follow safety and hygiene procedures
• Ability to store supplies in designated areas
• Ability to keep aisles and exits clear
