Ophthalmic Technician role at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead in Glasgow, part of Circle Health Group. No ophthalmology experience is required for this post and full training will be provided. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours per week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out a range of ophthalmic tests such as visual acuity, OCT scans, biometry, tonometry and visual fields testing
Support ophthalmologists and nurses during clinics and minor procedures
Prepare patients for examination, explaining procedures clearly and providing reassurance
Set up, calibrate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
Ensure equipment is used safely and report any faults promptly
Maintain clean and well-organised clinical areas in line with infection prevention policies
Requirements:
Experience working in a healthcare or clinical environment
Understanding of basic eye anatomy and ophthalmic terminology
Strong patient care skills with excellent communication and empathy
Good IT skills and ability to use clinical software
Ability to work with precision, accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
Commitment to professional development and safe patient care
Previous experience in an ophthalmology setting
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician qualification (e.g. OSC/Level 3 Diploma or equivalent)
Experience using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment (e.g. OCT, tonometer, autorefractor)
Knowledge of General Optical Council (GOC) or Royal College of Ophthalmologists standards
Experience supporting ophthalmic minor ops or intravitreal injection clinics
