Job Description:

The Multi-axis CNC Applications Specialist of GN Corporations Inc. is responsible for the development, programming, setup, and operation of multi-axis CNC machines (e.g., 5-axis mills, 9-axis mill-turn CNC machines) to manufacture complex, high-precision components. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, creating CNC programs using ESPRIT software, optimizing machining processes, and ensuring parts meet stringent quality and tolerance requirements. The specialist collaborates with other stakeholders within the organization such as engineers, machinists, and quality teams to enhance production efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Development, programming, setup, and operation of multi-axis CNC machines (e.g., 5-axis mills, 9-axis mill-turn CNC machines) to manufacture complex, high-precision components
  • Interpreting technical drawings, creating CNC programs using ESPRIT software, optimizing machining processes, and ensuring parts meet stringent quality and tolerance requirements
  • Collaborating with engineers, machinists, and quality teams to enhance production efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Create and verify CNC programs for multi-axis machines (5-axis mills, 9-axis mill-turn CNC machines) using ESPRIT
  • Determine the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing sequences ensuring the full utilization of the machine tools’ capabilities
  • Prepare detailed setup sheets for all the programs made
  • Request tool requirements from the tooling management team
  • Set up multi-axis CNC machines (e.g., DMG Mori, Mazak, and Doosan) with the appropriate tools, fixtures, and work holding solutions
  • Prove out setup and run a few parts until process stability is achieved
  • Provide technical support, guidance or training for less experienced machinists or operators
  • Fill out “Postproduction Feed Back form” and hand it over to PDS
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives where applicable
  • Assist with implementation/upgrade training and development of machinist/trainee machinists
  • Understanding and applying the GN Corporations Inc. Health and Safety policy as well as being responsible for his/her own health and safety at work, to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission
  • Being familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices, and regulations
  • Monitoring self-compliance with company, industry and government requirements as well as promoting their acceptance in all aspects of GN’s business-related activities

Requirements:

  • CNC Journeyman – Red or Blue seal, or minimum 5 years of experience setting up multitasking machine
  • Minimum 5 years of Esprit programing with at least 2 years focused on multi-axis (5-axis or 9-axis) programming
  • Able to use the assets to its highest capabilities
  • Experience in making Solid models
  • Machinist Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and management team

  • Supporting the Operations Manager in managing and overseeing system and process changes – via the co-ordination of work requests with IT and ensuring the work request schedule is kept up to date to reflect progress.
  • Supporting the Operations manager in data analysis to improve strategy and processes – via the production of KPI’s and client reports, including assisting with resolving data issues arising in the reports via co-ordination with IT
  • Assisting the operations manager in supporting legal projects throughout the business (where requested)
  • Ensure processes relating to the creation of client reports and KPIs are effective and well documented
  • Provide support and assistance to the central DAR team, undertaking tasks (when required) to support with fluctuating workload demands or service issues
