Earners team is responsible for building solutions that enable our Earners to onboard easily to Uber and to discover new earning opportunities. As part of the Earner Access Investigations Agent team, you will be responsible for building the next generation agentic support for earners
Job Responsibility:
Design, deliver, and maintain the core platform and AI/LLM components of the Earner Access Investigations Agent to accurately diagnose and resolve complex access issues related to documents, background checks (BGC), and gigs for earners on the Uber platform
Architect, develop, and scale the agent's architecture, leveraging frameworks like LangGraph, and building robust integrations with multiple downstream Earner Access systems (e.g., Gigs, Compliance, Screenings, and Documents)
Drive ongoing technical improvements and reliability efforts, focusing on key metrics like system latency (targeting <10 seconds), model precision (targeting >90%), and recall (targeting >70%)
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists (for evaluation/auditing), Global Operations, and Legal teams to define requirements, ensure compliance, and iterate on the agent's behavior
Implement and maintain the deterministic matching logic and the LLM-based response generation pipeline that replaces complex, brittle decision trees
Write clear and comprehensive documentation, including technical designs and runbooks, to enable cross-team collaboration and ensure system maintainability
Mentor and support fellow teammates, actively participating in code reviews and design discussions to maintain high engineering standards
Requirements:
3+ years of overall experience with a track record of impact as a Software Engineer
Strong experience in designing and building scalable, reliable, and performant backend systems and software architecture
Proven development experience and proficiency in distributed systems and microservices
Proven programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or similar
Expertise in Python is a strong plus, given the GenAI/LLM-focused stack
Experience in designing, building, or maintaining GenAI-powered applications, including familiarity with orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph) and data processing pipelines (e.g., Kafka/Hive for auditing)
Experience going through the full software development lifecycle of requirements, design, coding/testing, rollout, and deployment
Adept at technical collaboration with other engineers, data scientists, and product managers to gather requirements and drive product-critical outcomes
Passion for the team's mission of using AI to resolve complex earner access issues and a self-starting personality to make things happen
Excited to learn from and guide others and passionate about creating tools and providing support for fellow engineers
