Job Description:

The Journeyman Mission Systems Engineer will provide technical and engineering support to the H-53 Heavy Lift Helicopter Program Office at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will provide engineering support for mission and sensor systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the design, development, and integration of mission systems for naval aviation platforms
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to address mission system issues and ensure alignment with program objectives
  • Perform systems engineering tasks, including requirements analysis, system design, and interface definition
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including specifications, test plans, and technical reports
  • Conduct system-level testing and validation to ensure compliance with performance requirements
  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define system capabilities and resolve technical challenges
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards, acquisition processes, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Provide technical expertise during program reviews, systems engineering reviews, and airworthiness certification processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant systems engineering experience, preferably supporting DoD or Navy programs
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, system design, and testing
  • Familiarity with mission systems integration and sustainment for naval aviation platforms
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to complete the full background investigation
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required
