Medical Billing & Collections Specialist

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using electronic medical records systems, such as Epic or Cerner
• Investigate and resolve issues related to unpaid or denied claims, ensuring billing discrepancies are addressed promptly
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, providing clear and precise communication about their accounts
• Oversee collections processes, including negotiating payment plans with patients when necessary
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards throughout all billing and collection activities
• Post payments and reconcile accounts according to established clinic policies and procedures
• Maintain detailed and organized records of billing and collection activities in the system
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall efficiency in revenue cycle operations

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections
• Associates degree or certification in medical billing and coding is preferred
• Proficiency in electronic medical records systems, such as Epic or Cerner
• Strong knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance processes
• Certifications like Certified Biller (CPB) or Certified Coder (CPC) are highly desirable
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume workloads independently
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve billing discrepancies effectively
