The Design Engineer is responsible for tooling and solution design across multiple product or process variations within the automotive industry. This role focuses on developing robust design solutions, validating performance against defined targets, and ensuring designs meet quality, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Design and develop tooling and engineering solutions across multiple design variations
Evaluate and compare design alternatives to identify optimal solutions
Validate design results through analysis, testing, and/or simulation to ensure performance meets targets
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and program management
Ensure designs comply with automotive standards, specifications, and best practices
Support prototype builds, trials, and design iterations
Document design assumptions, calculations, and validation results
Identify and resolve design issues, risks, and trade-offs
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, or related field)
Experience with tooling design and engineering solution development
Strong understanding of automotive product or manufacturing processes
Ability to manage multiple design variations and evaluate trade-offs
Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis tools
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience in automotive tooling, fixtures, or production equipment
Familiarity with design validation methods (DFMEA, PFMEA, testing, simulation)
Experience supporting production launches or continuous improvement initiatives
