Job Description:

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Developer Tools team at Figma. This team is building solutions targeting mainly frontend and full stack developers, helping them bring products from idea to production faster than ever. As a manager on the Developer tools team you will lead teams working across Dev Mode, MCP, Code Connect, and more. You’ll also be responsible for helping define the future of our developer offering, very likely helping incubate and lead new product development. Developer tools is a major initiative at Figma and is spearheaded from the London office. You’ll be working on one of the most exciting areas within Figma incorporating design thinking, the latest AI developments, and open source developer tooling.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building and expanding Figma’s developer offerings
  • Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions
  • Define strategy & roadmap for your team and execute on that roadmap with a high degree of autonomy, velocity, and craftsmanship
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to your teams and others that collaborate with your teams to ensure a cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions
  • Recruit, mentor and retain high performing engineers (and help with other cross functional roles)
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and taking calculated risks
  • Play a role in helping to build and drive inclusive and diverse initiatives through hiring, community events, and other programs

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users
  • A proven track record of building products (both as a manager and individual contributor) that are best in class in user experience
  • A relentless focus on business impact through product & engineering excellence
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team
  • including mentoring, and growing senior engineers

Nice to have:

  • Experience building large scale systems using React, C++, and/or Ruby
  • Experience building & maintaining open source software and/or libraries for developers
