Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced MS SQL Database Administrator to support large-scale, mission‑critical database environments across diverse platforms and technologies. The individual will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, and optimisation within 24×7 operations. This role involves managing multi‑terabyte databases, working with advanced SQL Server features, supporting migrations across cloud and on‑premises platforms, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to maintain high‑quality service delivery.

Job Responsibility:

  • Administer SQL Server environments from 2008 through 2022, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Manage large, 24×7 databases, including multi‑terabyte systems
  • Work with SQL Always On, active/active peer‑to‑peer replication, log shipping, and database mirroring
  • Perform advanced DBA activities such as backups, recovery, security, and cluster installations
  • Troubleshoot resource contention issues across CPU, memory, I/O, and disk
  • Optimise SQL Server performance through indexing, statistics, query tuning, and maintenance tasks
  • Handle SQL Server cluster migration, upgrades, and TempDB optimisation
  • Create and automate SQL alerts, scripts, and maintenance procedures
  • Support Linux‑based SQL Server environments for 2019 and 2022
  • Conduct cross‑platform migrations (P2V, V2P, cloud migrations) with AWS and Azure IAAS/PAAS/SAAS variants
  • Use tools such as Profiler, DTA, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, and system procedures
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and provide root‑cause analysis
  • Adhere to ITIL practices for incident, change, problem, and release management
  • Document troubleshooting steps, contribute to knowledge repositories, and support reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • 9+ years of relevant MS SQL DBA experience
  • Skilled in managing complex, multi‑terabyte SQL Server environments
  • Knowledgeable in SQL Server clustering, Always On, replication, and migration activities
  • Proficient in performance tuning, optimisation, and automation (PowerShell, HTML, VBScript)
  • Comfortable working across Windows and Linux environments
  • Experienced with AWS and Azure SQL administration
  • Capable of handling cross‑platform and cloud migrations
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication skills and readiness for 24×7 shifts
  • Certified in Azure DP‑300 / DP‑900
  • ITIL Foundation (desirable)
  • Additional exposure to other database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) is an advantage
