As Manager, FE GRA (Python Developer) you will contribute to all aspects of programming work—within potentially several prototyping teams — in the construction and testing of analytic platforms. You will play a key role in accelerating development of prototypes that could materially influence the process of risk analysis and risk measurement at HSBC. New platforms and methods created by Financial Engineering will substantially improve the consistency of risk model development across HSBC, streamline the operational profile of model development projects (reducing costs and time) and reduce the risk of project failure, and dramatically improve the model deployment process.
Job Responsibility:
Develop quantitative library in Python
Transform code from quantitative teams into production ready services
Collaborate with other developers, data analysts and modellers and actively contribute to decision-making process to manage software development lifecycle
Actively utilise tried and tested methods for managing the development of software
Comply with the standard FIM requirements and act to minimize all aspects of operational risk such as it pertains to their role
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
Maintenance of technical documentation throughout prototyping and core development processes
Requirements:
Good proficiency in Python 3 and hands-on experience with pandas and NumPy
Understanding of common programming best practices
Solid knowledge of software testing principles such as parameterized tests and mocking
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
Knowledge of application development lifecycle
Understanding of algorithms and data structures
Ability and flexibility to work in international team
Nice to have:
Practical knowledge of gRPC
Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes and Jenkins
Understanding of quantitative finance
MSc or PhD in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research and/or Information Systems (Informatics)
