We are looking for a skilled Litigation Paralegal to join a reputable California law firm in Oakland, California. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to provide comprehensive litigation support, ensuring cases are managed effectively from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to handling complex legal matters.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with attorneys to manage case progress from initiation through trial, settlement, and post-resolution stages
Draft, review, and refine legal documents, including briefs, and ensure accuracy through cite-checking
Conduct document reviews and utilize e-discovery tools to prepare production sets and perform detailed searches
Oversee and manage document production processes, ensuring completeness and compliance
Support deposition and hearing preparations by organizing exhibits and crafting witness outlines
Perform litigation-specific tasks such as Bates stamping, hyperlinking PDFs, and maintaining accurate calendars for deadlines
Research and draft subpoenas while coordinating service and follow-up activities
Obtain case-related documents from third parties and communicate effectively with vendors for litigation support services
Monitor pending legal decisions, conduct thorough research, and assist in database management using tools like Concordance
Maintain accurate and timely billable hour entries while ensuring reliable attendance and adapting to remote work requirements when necessary
Requirements:
Must meet qualifications to work as a paralegal under California Business & Professions Code section 6450
Hold a bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution
Possess at least five years of paralegal experience within a California law firm or legal department
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
Experience with eDiscovery software such as iPro
Familiarity with legal research tools like Westlaw or Lexis
Strong understanding of construction law and civil litigation procedures
Ability to manage case-related billing functions and utilize case management software effectively
Familiarity with litigation support tools, including Concordance and Relativity
