A San Francisco nonprofit legal organization is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to provide short-term coverage supporting a busy civil litigation practice while a team member is on leave. This role will assist attorneys handling unlawful detainer (eviction) matters and related civil litigation, supporting discovery, pleadings, filings, and litigation deadlines. This opportunity is ideal for a litigation paralegal who is comfortable stepping into an active caseload and supporting attorneys with time-sensitive filings and discovery tasks.
Job Responsibility:
Support attorneys handling unlawful detainer (eviction) and civil litigation matters
Assist with discovery preparation, document organization, and case file management
Draft pleading shells and litigation documents for attorney review, including answers and demurrers using templates
Perform state and federal e-filing through File & Serve platforms
Maintain organized litigation files and exhibits
Track and manage litigation deadlines, including 10-day unlawful detainer response timelines
Assist attorneys with trial preparation and general litigation support tasks
Requirements:
Prior litigation paralegal experience in civil litigation environments
Experience with state and federal e-filing procedures
Familiarity with discovery workflows, pleadings, and litigation calendaring
Strong attention to detail when preparing filings and managing case documentation
Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced litigation environments with tight deadlines
Ability to report onsite in San Francisco up to 5 days a week
Nice to have:
Experience with PracticeMaster or similar practice management systems is a plus
