A well-established and reputable civil defense firm located in DTLA, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join their dynamic team. This Litigation Paralegal will support attorneys with all aspects of civil litigation, including document preparation, case management, legal research, discovery, trial preparation, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation defense, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive litigation support for civil defense cases, including case initiation, discovery, motions, and trial preparation
Draft, review, and file legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, subpoenas, motions, and correspondence
Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and creating trial notebooks
Coordinate the discovery process, including the preparation and review of discovery responses, document production, and the management of electronic discovery (eDiscovery)
Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents
Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel, maintaining professional and effective relationships
Prepare deposition summaries and assist in the preparation of witness testimony
Maintain case files and ensure all documents are properly organized and up-to-date
Manage filing deadlines, court dates, and other important timelines
Assist with settlement negotiations, including preparation of settlement documents and coordination with clients
Requirements:
3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with a strong background in civil defense litigation
Proficient in legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Familiarity with court rules and procedures for both state and federal courts
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
Knowledge of eDiscovery platforms and document management systems is preferred
Paralegal certification (e.g., from NALA, NFPA, or other recognized institutions) is a required
