Legal Counsel

• Provides legal advice and support to Country Business Management on legal, control function and regulatory matters
• Supports strategic initiatives of the businesses and functions
• Coordinates provision of internal and external legal support to Citi's local businesses
• Develops a broad understanding of Citi's businesses and major legal and regulatory risks
• Collaborates across internal lines of business, control/support functions and/or external counsel
• Partners with Citi Country Officers and country management to maintain good relations with local regulators
• Monitors key legal and regulatory developments
• Participates in country-level governance committees
• Manages day-to-day legal activities
• Manages litigation in coordination with Country General Counsel Group Manager

• 5-8 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
• Excellent command of Arabic and English
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of international, multi-jurisdictional laws and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to maintain trusted relationships
• Membership of local Bar/Lawyers Association
• Litigation background required
• Fluency in Arabic and English
