We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join an Autism Support Provisions Unit within a fantastic secondary school in Barnet. The Special Resource Provision is for pupils with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) as a primary need in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The provision is based within a larger Barnet secondary school and offers up to 7 pupils a place per year group. The school is close to Cockfosters Underground Station and High Barnet Underground Station and is also accessible car.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition on a 1 to 1 and group basis
Supporting pupils across a range of classes and learning activities
Building relationships and establishing a routine with students
Working closely with teachers and parents/carers
Being involved in assessments and reporting in line with the requirements of children Education Health Care plans (EHCP)
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young adults with special education needs
Good basic understanding of autism
Understanding how to ensure the learning environment is suitable
Ability to communicate clearly in suitable ways
Ability to integrate pupil’s interests
Experience supporting students with autism (ideally)
