Job Description:

We are currently recruiting a calm, patient, and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school supporting secondary-aged pupils in the Horsham area. This full-time, temporary role involves working with young people aged 11–16 who present with social, emotional, and mental health needs within a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping students regulate their emotions, re-engage with education, and build confidence both academically and socially
  • Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams to provide consistent, individualised support
  • Adapting strategies to meet each student’s emotional, behavioural, and learning needs
  • Supporting pupils in classroom and small group settings

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils in classroom and small group settings
  • A proactive, resilient, and compassionate attitude
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Driver essential due to rural school location
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
