We are currently recruiting a calm, patient, and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school supporting secondary-aged pupils in the Horsham area. This full-time, temporary role involves working with young people aged 11–16 who present with social, emotional, and mental health needs within a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Helping students regulate their emotions, re-engage with education, and build confidence both academically and socially
Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams to provide consistent, individualised support
Adapting strategies to meet each student’s emotional, behavioural, and learning needs
Supporting pupils in classroom and small group settings
Requirements:
Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Confidence supporting pupils in classroom and small group settings
A proactive, resilient, and compassionate attitude
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Driver essential due to rural school location
Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
