Job Description:

An exciting Opportunity has arisen for a Leading Hand Mechanical to join Service Stream’s growing Urban Utilities MECS team in Brisbane, contributing to the maintenance and operation of essential water and wastewater infrastructure.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise and support a small team of mechanical fitters and trades in carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of treatment and distribution systems
  • Deliver minor works projects as required to maintain critical community services
  • Coordinate maintenance activities
  • Lead high-risk works
  • Oversee quality assurance
  • Provide technical and planning support to engineers and operations teams
  • Promote safety and continuous HSE improvement
  • Assist with estimating and subcontractor engagement
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
  • Support leadership development through shadowing and higher duties
  • Encourage team ownership and accountability
  • Mentor apprentices
  • Champion Service Stream’s values of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence

Requirements:

  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Experience on wastewater treatment plants and all equipment located within the plant (Desirable)
  • Experience in the Water industry or similar industry
  • National Licence to perform High Risk work (Desirable)
  • Trade Certificate in a relevant mechanical discipline
  • Ability to integrate with and cooperate as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to deal with external personal including sub-contractors and clients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Willingness to upskill and undertake additional training for ongoing development

Nice to have:

  • Experience on wastewater treatment plants and all equipment located within the plant
  • National Licence to perform High Risk work
