Job Description:

Reporting to our VP, Talent, the Lead APAC Recruiter will be responsible for driving, guiding, and scaling Harvey’s recruiting strategy across the APAC region. This role will lead a small team of technical and business recruiters, ensuring regional hiring execution aligns with Harvey’s global recruiting philosophy, standards, and ways of working - while also adapting thoughtfully to local market dynamics, cultural nuances, and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in supporting Harvey’s international growth, including opening new offices and entering new APAC markets. You’ll operate as the regional recruiting leader and primary point of accountability for APAC hiring outcomes, balancing strategic oversight, stakeholder partnership, and team leadership with hands-on recruitment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own and drive the APAC recruiting strategy, ensuring alignment with Harvey’s global talent vision, operating model, and hiring standards
  • Drive first-in-market hiring strategies across multiple regions, building scalable playbooks for entering and hiring in new markets that accommodate local regulations, talent dynamics, and cultural nuances
  • Act as the regional recruiting leader and strategic partner to senior leaders, advising on hiring plans, market conditions, competitive dynamics, and talent risks across APAC
  • Lead, develop, and empower a small team of technical and business recruiters, setting clear expectations, coaching for impact, and enabling high-quality execution without micromanagement
  • Translate global recruiting frameworks, processes, and priorities into regionally effective approaches that reflect APAC market realities while maintaining bar-raising standards
  • Partner closely with global Talent, People, and business leaders to ensure consistency in candidate experience, decision-making, and hiring quality across regions
  • Play a key role in new market entry and office launches, advising on hiring sequencing, local talent availability, employer brand considerations, and scalable hiring models
  • Set regional hiring priorities, guide requisition allocation, and ensure recruiting resources are deployed effectively across technical and business roles
  • Establish and continuously refine APAC-specific recruiting playbooks, market insights, and best practices, feeding learnings back into global strategy
  • Use recruiting data and market intelligence to inform strategy, track progress, and clearly communicate insights, risks, and tradeoffs to stakeholders
  • Ensure a high-quality, inclusive, and culturally aware candidate experience across diverse APAC markets
  • Serve as a connector between global talent leadership and regional execution, helping scale recruiting in a way that is both globally consistent and locally effective
  • Use recruiting data and market intelligence to inform strategy, track progress, and communicate insights and risks to stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-velocity, ambiguous startup environment—setting direction amid change, making sound decisions with imperfect information, and maintaining momentum as priorities evolve
  • 10+ years of recruiting experience, with demonstrated success leading regional or international recruiting efforts
  • Deep experience recruiting across APAC markets, with a strong understanding of regional labor markets, cultural differences, and local hiring practices
  • Proven experience opening new offices or supporting market entry through early-stage hiring in APAC
  • Experience leading and developing both technical and business recruiters
  • Strong strategic orientation, with the ability to balance global alignment and regional autonomy
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior leaders and influencing without direct authority
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and market insights to guide decision-making
  • High degree of operational rigor, organization, and prioritization in environments with competing demands and limited resources
  • Commitment to inclusive hiring practices and building diverse teams across geographies

Nice to have:

Familiarity with tools such as Ashby, Notion, Slack, and Google Workspace

What we offer:
  • Structured hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in our Sydney office, 2 days working from home
  • Health Coverage: Fully covered private hospital insurance, plus extras for dental, optical, physio, mental health, and more
  • Family & Fertility Support: Support for fertility treatments, adoption, and surrogacy through Carrot
  • Retirement & Security: Comprehensive coverage designed to support your long-term well-being
  • Paid Leave: Paid annual leave, sick leave, and fully paid parental leave for all parents
  • Wellness & Perks: Daily in-office lunch, wellness memberships through Wellhub, and monthly commuting support
  • Professional Development: Annual support for courses, certifications, conferences, and books
  • Remote Work Allowance: Monthly support for home office, internet, and phone expenses
  • Harvey Holiday: After four years, enjoy a four-week paid sabbatical to rest, travel, or explore new experiences
