Job Description:

The Lead Product Designer will own the design vision, shape user interaction paradigms around AI, and guide how the platform communicates trust, accessibility, and impact. This role will report directly to the Product Director of the Technical Projects Group.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own the design vision and execution for our civic engagement platform
  • Design user-empowering AI interfaces that enable organizations to generate insights and content
  • Make opinionated design decisions about information hierarchy and user journeys
  • Pioneer change management through design via intuitive flows and feature adoption
  • Build and evolve our visual identity and brand expression across the platform
  • Design dynamic, responsive interfaces for AI-generated content
  • Partner with PMs and engineers to define interaction paradigms for LLM-driven features
  • Conduct user research with civic leaders and organizers
  • Establish and maintain design systems for data experiences and flexible content creation

Requirements:

  • Strategic design leadership with a focus on business outcomes and user value
  • Product fluency in AI/LLM UX, including prompt interfaces and progressive AI results
  • Full-spectrum design skills: UX research, UI design, interaction and visual design
  • Strong technical collaboration with frontend teams
  • Research and validation expertise via interviews, testing, and behavioral analysis
  • Experience managing or collaborating with contractors and remote teams
  • Data-informed design approach using analytics and A/B testing
  • 10+ years of product design experience, including senior or lead-level roles
  • Proven experience designing products that simplify complex data and workflows
  • Strong collaboration history with engineering in fast-paced product environments
  • Experience in engagement-driven domains like political tech, social media, or civic tech
  • Familiarity with AI/ML product development, conversational interfaces, or prompt engineering
  • Background in user research and translating insights into product strategy
