The Junior Accountant role sits within the Finance department, reporting to the Team Leader, Financial Reporting. This is a foundational step toward the Accountant position, focusing on managing recurring accounting activities, reviewing expense data across systems, and ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data that powers management reporting and strategic decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Lead core month-end activities including preparing and posting standard journal entries
Manage complex reconciliations focusing on inter-entity balances and key general ledger accounts
Ensure expense compliance by reviewing employee and vendor expense submissions
Reconcile card transactions and reimbursements between expense and accounting platforms
Monitor employee allowances as part of regular expense review process
Identify and determine corrective actions for routine discrepancies
Suggest and implement enhancements to expense workflows and reconciliation processes
Apply AI-powered tools and automation features within financial platforms
Analyse financial data trends and irregularities
Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and Operations teams
Maintain audit readiness with well-documented workpapers
Uphold control standards and complete tasks accurately and on time
Requirements:
Solid understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
Proven experience with accounting and expense management systems (e.g., Xero, Brex, Airwallex)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data validation
2–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
Ability to proactively investigate discrepancies and recommend solutions
Strong sense of ownership over assigned work
Capacity to quickly adjust to new systems and automation tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
History of working effectively with team members and cross-functional departments
