Job Description:

The candidate will produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our storage products.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop online, customer-facing technical documentation and other educational content in English
  • Research and design content based on user scenarios by understanding personas, delivering content for design iterations, developing, and clarifying UI terms, actively contributing to design reviews, and conducting user testing/research to validate content
  • Work with Product Management, Development and Test teams to understand the IBM domain, products, and functionality, and develop excellent walk-through guides and product and feature documents
  • Collaborate with other senior technical writers to iterate on and improve team processes
  • Work independently to source training, research, and other resources to develop content
  • Own the end-to-end authoring process: design, development, editing, production, translation, and life cycle management
  • Must collaborate with writers, editors, and global teams in all locations at different time zones to ensure adherence to the processes and styles

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong English language communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong user-level knowledge of writing tools and methodologies like DITA or any other markup language
  • Foundational understanding of UX design and research
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat
  • Expertise in producing multiple outputs from and coding in DITA/SGML/HTML/XML
  • Experience and familiarity with Topic writing styles and approaches
  • Experience with content management databases
  • Experience in creating diagrams and graphics

Nice to have:

  • Master's Degree
  • Master's degree in writing, English, communication, information design, user experience, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficient editorial competence, with the ability to follow and apply the IBM Style guidelines where appropriate
  • Excellent teaming skills for collaboration across multiple development teams
  • Strong analytical problem determination/solving skills
  • Experience writing content for complex systems
  • Experience of using Adobe Experience Manager
