We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Burnham, Illinois. This position requires a proactive individual capable of managing a range of HR tasks and supporting the department during a busy transitional period. The role involves critical administrative functions and direct engagement with employees to ensure smooth HR operations.
Job Responsibility:
Provide administrative support across various HR functions, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance
Assist in onboarding new employees, including preparing documentation and facilitating orientation processes
Coordinate background checks and verify credentials for new hires
Maintain and update the employee handbook, ensuring policies are current and accessible
Utilize HRIS systems to manage employee information and generate reports as needed
Support employee relations initiatives by addressing inquiries and resolving minor issues
Operate softphones to handle HR-related communications efficiently
Organize and manage scanning of personnel files and other HR documents
Collaborate with team members to streamline HR processes and improve workflows
Requirements:
Proven experience in human resources administration or a related role
Familiarity with HRIS systems and the ability to navigate them effectively
Strong knowledge of onboarding procedures and employee relations
Experience conducting background checks and managing sensitive information
Proficiency in using softphones and other communication tools
Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate records
Ability to update and manage HR documentation, including employee handbooks
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with employees and team members
