Job Description:

An opportunity to join the coffee buying team at Taylors of Harrogate. The role involves supporting Coffee Buyers in ensuring the quality standards and specifications of green and roasted coffee are maintained, learning about the supply chain from crop to cup, and being involved in key operational quality decisions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Physical analysis of green coffee samples
  • Roasting green coffee samples to specific roast profiles using Cropster software
  • Recording and organising cupping, quality, and roasting data on internal systems and Cropster
  • Sending sample feedback to suppliers
  • Hosting visitor tastings
  • Influencing the development and improvement of standards, data recording and operating procedures in the tasting room
  • Taste dozens of coffee samples every day
  • Maintain a clean and tidy coffee tasting room

Requirements:

  • Well-organised and self-motivated with incredible attention to detail and a desire to improve processes and standards
  • Able to work comfortably both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Highly competent at inputting, formatting and presenting data
  • Comfortable presenting and hosting tastings for visitors
  • Adaptable to a variety of tasks
  • A demonstrable passion for coffee is essential
  • Previous coffee industry experience is preferred - whether in cupping, roasting, buying or as a barista
