Job Responsibility

Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel)
Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results
Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis
Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager
Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas
May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites
Adhere to strict safety standards
Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures
Provides clear documentation of findings and results
Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager

Job Responsibility

Serves as a project manager and as a designated client contact

Directs and supervises other engineer’s technical work, budgets, and schedules and collaborates with staff in other Brierley offices via phone, email, and video meetings
Design of foundations, support-of-excavation, falsework, tunnels, underground structures and many other types of permanent and temporary structures
Evaluation and selection of geotechnical and loading design parameters
Development of concepts and preparation of sketches based on provided information and constraints
Analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, and wood structures using relevant building codes, prepare design calculations, reports and supervise creation of CAD/BIM drawings

Under the direction of a Professional Engineer the incumbents will function as an Albany Division Team Leader in Structure Inspection within Engineering Services
Performing and managing the structural and safety inspections of bridges, overhead signs / high mast lighting, bridge culverts, retaining walls and gantries for both in house and consultant personnel
Complete field inspections in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards, NYSTA policies, and when applicable, NYSDOT policies
Access structures via various methods (ladder, platform, aerial lifts, UBIU)
Generation of structure inspection reports
Compile schedules and coordinate traffic control
Complete structure inventory updates any other tasks deemed necessary to ensure the sufficient delivery of the structure inspection program for the NYSTA
