A privately held, fast-scaling infrastructure and technology operator is hiring a Controller to lead and build its accounting function as the business expands and prepares for an eventual public offering. This role sits at the center of finance and operations and will own GAAP reporting, internal controls, and complex accounting across multiple entities, joint ventures, and project structures. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has operated in or alongside public companies and understands what it takes to move from private-company reporting to public-market readiness.
Job Responsibility:
Own GAAP financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement accuracy
Build, document, and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies in preparation for public-company standards
Oversee accounting for multiple entities, joint ventures, debt structures, and complex ownership arrangements
Lead audit coordination and manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including ASC 740 considerations
Partner closely with operations, legal, and finance to evaluate new projects, investments, and cost drivers
Drive IPO readiness efforts, including SOX controls, reporting processes, and coordination with external advisors
Requirements:
8–15+ years of progressive accounting experience
Familiarity with IPO readiness, public traded reporting/regulation knowledge
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and public-company compliance requirements
Hands on experience with consolidations, revenue recognition, federal, state, and sales tax
Exposure to Joint Venture accounting
Proven ability to build processes, improve systems, and scale an accounting function
Comfortable operating as a hands-on leader in a growing, fast-paced organization
