Our growing firm is looking for an enthusiastic File Opening Clerk with experience, to join our Support team. BRM offer comprehensive legal services to businesses nationally. Job Responsibility:

  • Opening new client and matter files (physical and electronic) in accordance with firm procedures
  • Conducting conflict checks and making sure client identification and verification documentation is complete
  • Entering client and matter details accurately into the firm’s practice management system
  • Organising, labelling and maintaining physical files in proper order and secure storage
  • Uploading, scanning and indexing documents into the document management system
  • Communicating with lawyers, assistants, and other staff to obtain missing information or documentation
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all client and firm information at all times
  • Performing general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, and data entry, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Secondary education, including Maths and English to grade for or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in office administration or legal studies preferred
  • Prior experience in a law firm or legal environment is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and experience with legal practice management software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrating professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
