An Export Control Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with export regulations and laws. They oversee the export of goods and technology, assess potential risks, and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with export control regulations. They also provide training to employees on export compliance and work closely with government agencies to obtain necessary licenses and permits for exporting goods. Additionally, they may conduct audits and investigations to ensure adherence to export control laws.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement the company's internal export compliance program (ECP)
Determine the export control jurisdiction and classification of products, technical data, and services
Prepare, submit, and manage export license applications and other authorizations with U.S. government agencies
Conduct screening of foreign customers, vendors, and end-users for compliance with restricted party lists
Develop and deliver training to employees on export control regulations
Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps
Implement and manage Technology Control Plans (TCPs) to prevent unauthorized access to ITAR-controlled data
Investigate potential violations and coordinate with legal counsel
Perform other duties as required

Requirements:
Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required
Expert-level knowledge of the ITAR, EAR, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations
Detail oriented and familiar with the US law and regulation related to export controls, both defense and commerce
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex regulations
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and provide training
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Familiarity with export compliance software and tools (e.g., SAP GTS, Visual Compliance) is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Law, or a related field is typically required
Master's degree is a plus
10+ years of experience in export compliance, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industry with a DoD prime contractor
Nice to have:
Familiarity with export compliance software and tools (e.g., SAP GTS, Visual Compliance) is preferred
Master's degree is a plus
