Job Description:

This position is highly technical working on machines that manufacture medical equipment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety, and maintenance documents
  • Organizes, executes, and directs improvement projects to increase equipment utilization
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with machine performance and/or product quality
  • Advises on proper content of PM task list and frequency of execution
  • Assists with the installation, debugging, and start-up of all new or modified production equipment
  • Works with general supervision, external contractors and vendor as needed
  • Reports directly to Engineering Manager or reports to Production Supervisor
  • Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment
  • Controls and adjusts machine settings
  • Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime, and waste levels of machine operation
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection, and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery
  • Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks
  • Prioritizes daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance scheduling, completion of work orders and tasks as assigned
  • Supports installation and removal of equipment, and performance of required corrective maintenance
  • Consistent presence in production departments. Monitors the production lines and proactively evaluates equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude to complete changeover of equipment and some operator level preventive maintenance
  • Assist with root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions
  • Checks work using prescribed gauges, jig, and fixtures to measure close tolerances

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED & Certificate and 2 years of experience in relevant field
  • High School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience required
  • Must have experience working on Circuit/Electronic boards and hydraulics
  • Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems
  • Mechanical design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding)
  • Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing press
  • Time management skills required to ensure all tasks are completed without delay
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teams
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications
  • Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects, or assignments
  • Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments essential
  • Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerance
  • Use of a PC including MS Excel & MSWord
  • Demonstrate mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics aptitude
  • Ability to use multimeter
  • Sensor technology
  • Basic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic)
  • Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt, and chain drives)
  • Must have awareness of FDA and ISO regulations
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • HVAC knowledge is helpful
  • Auto mechanics will be considered particularly if they worked on computerized automobiles
  • Must have a good job history
  • Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements
